I believe emojis are essential in modern communication. We write in short bursts and don’t have a lot of time to explain the subtleties, our “tone of voice” or “facial expressions”. A smiley face goes a long way toward saying “I’m just busting your chops friend” and avoiding the disaster of some brief snippet being taken the wrong way.

“Ok” with a 👍 can mean agreement
While “ok” without can mean a LOT of things… some of them really NOT agreement. My dad refuses to use them (73.. old dogs and new tricks), so to get our record straight, I just call him instead.
Yes…. calling your dad in that case is the logical way to go. And you’re right… you have to have some empathy for how the other person might I interpret what you’re trying to say! So picking up the phone and calling will leave no doubt!
And I wish I would’ve had this emoji tutorial a few years back when I sent and I’ll advised email calling someone a shit head. Instead of writing it out I could’ve used 💩 😑
Here's another bit of information about emoji ... the word, though. The plural is "emoji". The Japanese language doesn't change a word to create its plural form; instead, singular versus plural is specified by context. 🙇

I suddenly realize that if I could use emojis, my diss would effing write itself. But no, back to the academic word salad. I’ll take🦉💩😳🥰 over performative Bs words life “reify”, “”rhyzomatic” and “excursus” every day. Thanks chickie, for reminding me how creative humans can be.
