“Without music, life would be a mistake.”― Friedrich Nietzsche
Do you know Jacob Collier? A thirty one year old British prodigy; plays keyboards, piano, double bass, bass guitar, drums, percussion, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, harpejji, melodica; won SIX Grammys; known for his brilliant reharmonization, which, according to Wikipedia:
Reharmonization is the technique of taking an existing melodic line and altering the harmony that accompanies it. Typically, a melody is reharmonized to provide musical interest or variety.
He clearly showed his reharmonization skills in 2013 when he produced the Stevie Wonder song ‘Don’t You Worry ‘bout a Thing’. (Click the underlined title to hear it). Plus, he plays every instrument in this. WOW.
Anyway, I don’t care what you call it. The performance shared below is from February 2026, and yes, it’s 21 minutes long, but please make the time. Watch Jacob, the symphony, AND the audience. IT. IS. SO. MUCH. FUN. 😀
Music is supposed to be FUN! And these guys are having all of it. Tommy Emmanuel, 70 years young , tall, handsome, and Australian plays with Pedro Javier Gonzales from my favorite city, Barcelona at the 2012 Soave Guitar Festival in Italy. They work themselves into a glorious frenzy towards the end.
Back to jazz… Charlie suggested the Brecker Brothers. Michael and Randy are brothers known for jazz fusion. Randy was an original member of Blood, Sweat, and Tears and they’ve played as session musicians with some great groups. Here they are in Barcelona… turn it up!
Since Eric Clapton turned EIGHTY ONE last week, I have to toss this in the mix. This video was shot in a genuine downpour in 1989. Even though Clapton turned out to be a Covid denier and an anti-vaxxer, his talent is historic and… he’s all kinds of good looking! 😍

Jacob Collier!!!!!! WOW! Such a talent! That was awesome! Tommy Emmanuel and Pedro Javier Gonzales…jamming like crazy!!! So fun! Becker Brothers-listening to this jazz as I write! Clapton-political…but yes-great musician! We have a “porch playlist” (for when we can sit outside on chairs when it is warm! :))….and a couple I can remember at this moment are Diamonds and Rust by Joan Baez (a diss to Bob Dylan apparently) and Riviera Paradise by Stevie Ray Vaughan. Good songs! Thanks for this post-put me in a great mood today! :)
